Catalog description

Critical study of the non-Piagetean research literature and theory focusing on higher mental processes in humans through the lifespan. Key course topics include current memory models, encoding and retrieval processes, cognitive load theory, problem solving and critical thinking as well as theories of transfer and expertise development. The effects of self-regulatory processes, social contexts, and beliefs on cognition and learning also are important course emphases.
