Catalog description
In this course, students explore the nature of the book through various bookmaking experiments from object to installation, developing individual relationships with the craft and skills of bookmaking. This collaborative, process-based course will help students dive into creative and written work that considers books as objects, artifacts, and experiential. This studio course focuses on the history of the book and bookmaking techniques alongside projects that marry form and content. Students finish the course with a background in folding, hand-sewn binding, papermaking, painting, and the ability to translate written and artistic work into various book forms.
