Seminar: Critical Theory

Catalog description

This seminar will engage, explore, and contextualize crucial issues in contemporary critical theory. Readings and themes will be drawn from a range of critical lineages and may include texts in from historical materialism; decolonial theory; eco-criticism; continental philosophy; anthropology; linguistics & literary criticism; psychoanalytic theory; queer theory; as well as critical approaches to race and racialization. Coursework will include collaborative discussion, writing in a range of modes: analytic, creative, reflective; and further, the course will explore how somatic, performative, and contemplative exercises can serve as valuable heuristics into the concepts and forms of critical theory.
