Seminar: Reading & Writing: Queer Lit

Catalog description

What makes a piece of writing truly and radically queer? What makes writing the gayest art form ever? This course will examine cultural assumptions about what constitutes queer thinking, queer writing, and queer making. We will read and engage with queer texts spanning genres, disciplines, and time periods, with particular attention to the resonances shared between queer society and the literary underground. This course will engage not only with writing as a page-based study but writing as a somatic, ceremonial, and performative discipline as well.
