Naropa University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
In this class students will learn the Taijiquan Sword Form. The Taiji Sword Form consists of 53 postures combined with transitional movements. The Taiji sword form embodies the element of water and is traditionally a contemplative practice for cultivating one’s spirit, health, and chi. Taijiquan sword fencing will also be introduced through partner work. The student will begin to learn how to transform conflict into balance and harmony through the application of the energetics of the circle and the square in Taiji sword fencing. Completion of Taijiquan levels I and II are a prerequisite for taking Taijiquan level III. We will also study form refinement and internal development. Prerequisite: TRA525. Cross-listed as TRA 305
