Contemporary Environmental Movements

Catalog description

From the local to the global, from reform to revolution, this course examines historically recent environmental movements and their influences and aspirations. Students will (a) assess contemporary possibilities and limitations of environmentalism across multiple dimensions including the political, economic, cultural, etc., (b) develop nuanced understanding of why certain movements succeed or fail, and (c) articulate possibilities for themselves and the future. This course continues the inquiry initiated in ENV207, History of the Environmental Movement. There is no prerequisite.
