Buddhist Psychology IV: Counseling/Bodhisattva

Catalog description

The Mahayana ideal of the bodhisattva, one who dedicated their life to the welfare of others, can be an inspiration for the counselor. This course focuses on the example of the bodhisattva and the practice of the six paramitas, or transcendent actions, as they apply both to the students' own development and to working with counseling clients. Understanding compassion as the basis for ethical behavior and the appropriate setting of boundaries in the clinical relationship is stressed. Prerequisite: CNSC-703.
