Catalog description

Students explore various historical and current theoretical trends in art therapy and creative arts counseling, focusing on the contributions of early pioneers and contemporary practitioners. Various approaches to the practice of art therapy and creative arts counseling are highlighted (depth psychology, humanistic, Gestalt, cognitive/behavioral, phenomenological, developmental, archetypal) with specific attention devoted to models of contemplative and transpersonal counseling, creativity, future trends, and strategies to employ when looking at and responding to artwork within the therapeutic relationship. TAT students only.
