Addiction Prevention, Intervention, and Recovery

Catalog description

Explores the continuum of care in addressing substance use disorders, with a focus on prevention, intervention, and recovery. Students will examine evidence-based strategies for reducing risk factors, promoting protective factors, and supporting individuals, families, and communities impacted by addiction. Topics include prevention models across diverse populations, early screening and intervention methods, treatment engagement, and long-term recovery supports. Emphasis will be placed on cultural competence, ethical considerations, and the integration of community and professional resources. By the end of the course, students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, evaluate, and apply prevention, intervention, and recovery approaches in real-world settings. 54 hours lecture. 54.00 hours lecture.
