A survey of early American history from the Chicana/o/x perspective. It is an introduction to the study of Chicana/o/x history, identity and culture from the pre-Columbian and Spanish colonial periods to 1848 with emphasis on the period of discovery through 1848. Students analyze Chicana/o/x contributions to the political, social, economic, and cultural development of the United States. 54.00 hours lecture. (Letter grade or Pass/No Pass option)
