A survey of Early Latin American history from the pre-Colombian period to the early nineteenth century. Emphasis is placed on the indigenous past, conquest, Catholic Church, race and social relations, economic and political structures, and the dissolution of colonial rule. 54.00 hours lecture. (Letter grade or Pass/No Pass option)
