Catalog description

A course for biology majors and students who plan to take additional courses in biology. This course investigates the description, behavior, ecology and evolutionary history of the taxonomic group Mammalia. In addition to anatomy and physiology, behavior and ecology are examined. A review of taxonomic orders includes the most recent phylogenetic information on biodiversity. Parasites and zoonoses (vector and non-vector) that result in disease are discussed and related to rapidly changing climates. Students also discuss challenges associated with mammal conservation and how these are confounded by climate change. Prerequisites: BIOB 170 /171 Organismal Diversity and Evolution Lecture and Lab.
