Catalog description
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of 3D printing, providing an overview of the technology, design processes, and practical applications of 3D printing manufacturing. Students will learn the basis of 3D modeling software, how to prepare digital files for printing, and the essential principles of operating a 3D printer. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the workflow from concept to finished product. The course also covers an introduction to design thinking and file preparation, allowing students to create simple, functional objects. By the end of the course, students will have a foundational understanding of 3D printing and the confidence to produce their own designs. Students will critique their projects and make informed judgements on the aesthetic and functional quality of their work to better understand how best to improve their work.
