Offered intermittently. Prereq., SPNS 202 . Spanish, one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, is often found in contact with other languages in a variety of social and linguistic landscapes. These contact situations allow us to examine the types, characteristics, and outcomes of bilingualism. This course will delve into many important aspects of bilingualism, such as language maintenance and loss, characteristics of bilingual speech, cognitive aspects of bilingualism, and language acquisition.
