Race, Crime, and Criminal Justice

Catalog description

This course addresses the empirical relationship between race and crime and its theoretical explanations. This course addresses offending and victimization patterns and trends and introduces the major theories used to make sense of these trends. This includes providing an overview of existing research which examines how race influences criminal justice outcomes. Finally, the course addresses public attitudes about race and crime, including how race motivates attitudes and policies about crime and justice in the United States. Level: Undergraduate
