Offered fall. Prereq., PSCI 230X . Restricted to students with at least junior standing. This course explores the meaning, sources, and future of human, national, and international security. We will consider a range of historical and contemporary threats (interstate war, civil war, terrorism, crime, natural disaster, human accident, disease, and deprivation), assess the vulnerability of individuals and states to each threat, and evaluate national and international strategies to reduce them.
