Offered autumn. Prereq., one of BIOO 105N , BIOB 170N , BIOE 172N , BIOB 160 , or BIOB 101N ; and either prereq. or coreq. one of ENSC 245N, FORS 241N , NRSM 211N , or GPHY111N. Examination of physical and biological factors affecting forest structure, composition, and function, including biodiversity and species interactions, succession, disturbance, and nutrient cycling. Introduces foundational ecological theory and terminology, illustrated with examples from local, regional, and global forest ecosystems.
