Assessment in Early Childhood

Restricted to students in the Early Childhood Education P-3 program. This course offers an in-depth exploration of the types and purposes of early childhood assessment, with a focus on the critical role of assessment for early screening, evaluation, and designing effective curriculum. Throughout the course, students will examine and critique various assessment tools and strategies, considering their goals, benefits, limitations, and applications for young children, families, staff, and P-3 classrooms. Students will develop and implement assessment plans with opportunities to practice collaboration and build effective assessment partnerships. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to make informed decisions about assessment practices that enhance learning experiences and outcomes in P-3 settings.
