Catalog description

Offered autumn and spring. Strongly recommended for (i) international students admitted with intermediate or advanced English proficiency status as defined in the catalog, (ii) international students who are new to academic English in North America, and/or (iii) domestic students who use English as Second Language. May not be taken at the same time as or after EASL 451 or COMX 111. Concentration on listening, notetaking, speaking and study skills required for success in an American academic setting. Includes participating in and leading structured class discussions, and preparing formal presentations with appropriate research and technological support. The course also introduces students to American academic culture and classroom expectations.
