Catalog description

Offered spring. A prior college-level course in biology is recommended. Systematics of vascular plants with primary focus on flowering plant diversity and regionally important taxonomic groups. This integrated lecture and laboratory emphasizes applying general botanical terminology, characterizing major plant groups to recognize them without keying and understanding their functions (ecology) and origins (evolution), and the use of dichotomous keys for plant identification down the species level.
