Catalog description

Surveys the history and genres of Japanese comics (manga) and animation (anime). Students will learn how to analyze/draw the visual elements of manga and anime while also learning about cultural context, production, and reception. In addition to discussing common themes and narrative forms employed, students will learn to distinguish among, describe, and draw the various art styles and framing structures.
