Catalog description

This course covers electromagnetic radiation from astrophysical sources. Topics include radiative transfer, blackbody radiation, atomic and molecular absorption and emission, radiation from moving charges, relativistic beaming, Bremsstrahlung, synchrotron radiation, and Compton scattering. Applications to stars, the interstellar medium, supernovae, X-ray binaries, and active galactic nuclei will be discussed. Offered every other Spring (even years)
