Catalog description

This lecture based course provides a history of painting, sculpture, and architecture produced in Italian states and Southern Europe during the 17th century. Emphasis is placed on major artists and stylistic trends as well as the various social, political and religious contexts for viewing art. Artists include Carracci, Caravaggio, Velazquez, Rubens and Lebrun and styles include classicism and naturalism
