Catalog description
This course explores positive psychology through the lens of culture and identity. Students will look at how well-being is shaped by factors like personality, social influences, biology, economics, and the brain. Students will learn how things like culture, age, gender, and socioeconomic status influence what it means to live a good life. Topics include happiness, resilience, motivation, optimism, therapy, education, character strengths, and even the role of artificial intelligence in well-being. The course connects ideas from fields like social psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics to help students understand how people thrive individually and as communities.
