Indigenous Thought and Sustainability

Catalog description

This interdisciplinary course involves political theory, comparative politics, some biophysical science to understand environmental systems, and Indigenous studies, which itself involves at least art (of many kinds), anthropology, law, linguistics, sociology, history, ethics, and philosophy. We will compare and analyze Indigenous thought as it is presented by Indigenous authors and leaders as well as other academic literature. Indigenous thought consistently intersects with how to be a good ancestor, how to think about human, the non-human, and the land in order to maintain a good life and a healthy world-or, sustainability.
