Occupational Therapy Approaches to Community and Population Health

Catalog description

This course integrates community practice and population health perspectives within occupational therapy. Students examine how social, economic, environmental, cultural, behavioral, and policy factors influence health, participation, and occupational performance across individuals, groups, and populations. Drawing from occupational therapy theory, public health, epidemiology, health behavior science, quality and safety, and value-based care, students design, implement, and evaluate occupation-centered community and population health interventions. Emphasis is placed on needs assessment, health promotion and prevention, health literacy, motivational strategies, data analytics, population-level program development, outcome measurement, dissemination, and advocacy.
