Elementary Chinese II

Catalog description

A continuation of Elementary Chinese I, this course is an elementary-level communicative based language course in standard Chinese, which is called Mandarin, to distinguish it from regional dialects with simplified characters, the standard script in China. A continuation of the introduction to basic Mandarin Chinese grammar, vocabulary, and communicative structures, this course is intended for students who have completed Elementary Chinese I or have placed into FC-102 through the World Languages placement exam. Students participate in pair, small group, and whole-class conversation, listening, comprehension and writing activities that focus on the meaningful and accurate conveying of information.
