Performance and Social Change

Catalog description

Students will survey the contemporary history, theories, and methods of creative performing arts through the lens of communication and develop original performances that can function as embodied visions of social change and/or resistance to the status quo. Emphasis is placed on intersectional systems of power that perpetuate structural inequities. Experimental categories and practices of critical performance will be considered.
