Catalog description

This course is an immersive and hands-on workshop centering on cinematography and lighting techniques for filmmaking produced in sound-stages, on-location sets, and other professional contexts. This course will be an exploration of the craft, technologies, and aesthetic principles of cinematography and lighting for motion picture and filmmaking production. Students will learn the protocols, workflow, and guidelines of camera departments (cinematography), gaffing (the electrical side of lighting) and gripping (the mechanical side of lighting) while analyzing and interpreting scenes from script breakdowns.
