Human Variation

Catalog description

This course is designed to introduce students to the study of human variation. Each one of us is different from everyone else; even monozygotic twins, that share the same DNA, differ. These differences can occur from the genetic level to the epigenetic level. Some of this variation we can see, such as variation in height, eye color, etc. Other variation is less obvious such as variation in disease susceptibility and food sensitivities. Students will collect and examine data to assess this variability in humans while looking through the lens of evolutionary theory and natural selection.
