Catalog description

How do people use media to improve their health and avoid disease? How are different health conditions represented in the media that we consume? What are the consequences of these representations? This course examines questions like these, exploring the relationship between health, medicine, and media. It combines insights from Media Studies, Sociology, and Public Health. This course will grant you an understanding of the link between media and health, and you will also become an expert in one aspect of the media/health interaction (for example, how the media represents a specific health condition or health practice).
