Catalog description

This course covers the fundamentals of woodwind instruments in a way that can be applied to teaching in a school setting. Students will learn proper embouchure and methods for tone production on the flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon as well as ways to diagnose and correct common playing problems in students. Repertoire selection, familiarity with method books, solos, ensemble music and reference books will be covered. Students will present mini lessons and learn about instrument care, maintenance and minor repairs of woodwind instruments. For Music majors only.
