Hematology and Immunology

Catalog description

(formerly offered as BIO 3560 for 3 credits) Hematology: A study of blood cells and their morphology and functions, including an introduction to hematopoiesis and hemostasis. Students will be introduced to major blood disorders through lecture, laboratory exercises and case studies. Immunology: a fundamental study of innate and adaptive immune responses, including the complement system, lymphocyte development, antigen recognition, immunoglobulins, and mechanisms of cell and humoral mediated immunity. Three lecture hours, two laboratory hours per week.
