Catalog description

This course provides students with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills required for entry-level employment as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. Emphasis is placed on specimen collection, handling, processing, and analysis according to industry standards. Students will learn principles of infection control, laboratory safety, quality assurance, and professional communication within the healthcare team. Coursework integrates ethical and legal responsibilities with practical laboratory procedures including specimen preparation, waived testing, and data documentation. Upon completion, students will demonstrate competency in performing essential laboratory support functions that contribute to accurate and timely patient care.
