Offered: F. This course includes a study of the theories of first and second language acquisition. Subtopics of this area of study include: bilingualism, cognitive styles, communicative styles, personality factors, socio-cultural differences, learning theory, models of language acquisition, strategies used by adults and children in acquiring second or third language and the application of these factors to language teaching. Section information text: Second 7-week session Though all coursework is 100% online, students are required to participate in live (via the internet) video conferencing on Mondays from 6:30-7:30 PM (10/19/26, 11/2/26, 11/16/26, 12/7/26). All students should have reliable access to a web camera and internet for video conferencing and recording. This course requires outside fieldwork. This course may be waitlisted through the online registration system.
