Love 101

Catalog description

Same as PHIL 1151 . This course focuses on the nature and aims of love. Students will critically evaluate various conceptualization of love offered by prominent voices in the history of philosophy. Topics and attention may be paid to the role of love in living a good life, aspects of rational control over feelings of love, and the nature of commitment as a part of love. The course will also consider some of the socio-political and psychological barriers to love, which contribute to modernity's suspicions about love.
