Catalog description

Prerequisite(s): ( ACCTNG 5400 or ACCTNG 2400 ) and ( SCMA 5300 or SCMA 2300 ). This course provides a practical foundation for making effective corporate financial decisions and valuing business opportunities. Students learn how managers assess investments, evaluate risk and return, and make choices about funding, capital structure, and shareholder payouts. Core concepts are applied to real business situations, including project evaluation and company valuation. The course also explores current trends shaping financial markets, such as innovation in capital markets, sustainability, and the ethical, regulatory, and governance challenges facing firms today. Learning takes place through lectures, class discussions, short cases, and a hands-on valuation project.
