Catalog description

This course introduces students to the principles and practices of social innovation, emphasizing how individuals and organizations address real-world challenges across diverse communities. Students explore sustainable models for impact while focusing on their personal emphasis areas -- such as early childhood, youth/adult services, parks and museums, exercise and wellness, or other degree-focused disciplines. Through guided outreach, observational research, and engagement with community partners, students develop action plans that connect academic learning with meaningful social change. The course also supports professional development through assignments that prepare students for purpose-driven internships and effective use of university resources.
