Catalog description

Same as HIST 2104 . In this course, students will explore the diverse beliefs and practices related to anatomy, disease, sexual reproduction, gender, sport, and food. Western biomedicine will be compared with traditional Chinese medicine and other non-Western traditions such as shamanic, Native American, Tibetan, and Ayurvedic systems. The clash between traditional and modern medical systems will also be examined. This course counts toward the Global Perspectives graduation requirement.
