This course explores the social and cultural aspects of foods and drinks. Topics may include the origins of food production; the evolution of diets, foods, and productions systems around the world; the interrelationships between food and identity, gender, race, and class; food and globalization; food politics and food justice movements; water scarcity; and the push for a sustainable future. This course counts toward the Global Perspectives graduation requirement.
