World Archaeology

Catalog description

Discusses some of the greatest discoveries in archaeology from prehistoric cultures to ancient civilizations of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas. Archaeological examples may include early human origins at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania, the pyramids of ancient Egypt, the Maya and Aztec of Mexico, the rise of civilization in Mesopotamia, England's Stonehenge, the Roman city of Pompeii, upper Paleolithic cave paintings in France and Spain, and American Indian pueblos of the Southwest. This introductory course is designed for non-anthropology majors, or for those who are considering the major. This course counts toward the Global Perspectives graduation requirement.
