Sources and nature of law; historical, sociological and philosophical approaches to legal theory. Role of the judiciary as an aspect of the study of political behavior; policy significance and consequences of what judges do and how they do it. Illustrated by case study in selected areas of American constitutional law. Prerequisite: PLS 101 .
