Post-Soviet Politics

Catalog description

The politics and governments of the former Soviet Union, its Marxist-Leninist ideology, and the dominant role of the Communist Party will be used to illustrate the dramatic changes having taken place since 1991. Political and economic reforms introduced by Gorbachev will be highlighted, and reasons for the Soviet Union’s subsequent collapse and the establishment of Russia and other Independent States of the former Soviet Union will be discussed. Prerequisite: PLS 101 .
