Catalog description

This course introduces students to feminist philosophy by studying feminist epistemology and ontology. We will consider and answer questions such as the following: What does feminist epistemology mean? Is knowledge gendered? Are there feminist sciences, and if so, in what sense are they feminist? How does feminist epistemology appropriate and challenge traditional epistemologies? What does it mean to be a woman? Are human beings fundamentally gendered beings? How should we understand gender itself? How does feminist ontology appropriate and challenge traditional ontologies?
