Topics typically include finite fields, block designs, error-correcting codes (nonlinear, linear, cyclic, BCH, and Reed-Solomon codes), cryptography, and computer implementation of these applications. May be taught concurrently with MTH 637. Cannot receive credit for both MTH 537 and MTH 637. Prerequisite: MTH 333 or MTH 532 .
