Catalog description

A further examination of historical, theoretical, and practical principles of narrative editing. Students will learn advanced editing techniques related to emotional clarity, dramatic focus, pacing, and overall effective storytelling. Through a mix of instruction, discussion, and hands-on individual projects, students will more fully comprehend an editor’s role and responsibilities within the larger production/post-production process, explore different approaches to visual storytelling and corresponding editing techniques, confidently make technical and creative decisions based on the needs of specific projects, and prepare to enter the professional post-production marketplace. Prerequisite: MED 466 .
