Catalog description

This studio focuses on healthcare design through introducing basic and advanced concepts, including healthcare design terminology, researching healthcare environments, analyzing patient and staff areas, and studying a breadth of healthcare typologies and how they relate to infection control and current design trends. The semester begins with an initial educational and research component that will then be applied to a design project. Appropriate use of materials, acoustical design, accessible and universal design, code requirements, FF&E considerations and other areas related to healthcare design are investigated. Prerequisite: IDC 304 and IDC 405 and IDC 408 .
