Catalog description

This course examines how federal, state, and local policies shape services and opportunities for older adults. Students analyze the development, implementation, and impact of major policies affecting aging populations, including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act. The course emphasizes policy analysis, advocacy strategies, and the role of aging-focused organizations in influencing policy decisions. Students develop skills in evaluating policy effectiveness and identifying opportunities for policy improvement to better serve diverse aging communities. Recommended Prerequisite: GER 575 or SOC 575 .
