Catalog description

This course examines how social, cultural, economic, and demographic factors shape aging and community life. Students explore how attitudes, relationships, physical environments, and social systems influence opportunities and challenges for older adults, drawing on theory and research in social gerontology. Emphasis is placed on applying this understanding to community and professional settings to promote engagement, inclusion and quality of life across the lifespan. Identical with SOC 575 . Cannot receive credit for both GER 575 and SOC 575 . Recommended Prerequisite: GER 180 or SOC 150 .
