Drones in Agricultural Management

Catalog description

This course explores the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, in modern agricultural management. Students will study federal and state regulations governing drone operation, including FAA certification requirements, as well as best practices for safe and effective use in agricultural contexts. Emphasis is placed on the technical aspects of UAS operation-from sensor and camera technologies used in crop monitoring and mapping to larger-scale drone applications such as spraying and seeding. Students will gain experience with various drone systems and data collection methods used to support precision agriculture and resource management. May be taught concurrently with AGR 667. Cannot receive credit for both AGR 467 and AGR 667. Recommended Prerequisite: AGR 257 and AGR 457 and AGP 585 .
